PSDA – New Member Spotlight on Heinn Chapman

Recently we sat down with PSDA to discuss who we are and what we’re about! PSDA (Print Services & Distribution Association), in their own words, is the print industry’s only association that helps distributors grow by cultivating strategic partnerships with manufacturers and suppliers. We are excited to be on their roster of members and look forward to our future with them.

Below is the interview that took place:

“Heinn Chapman has been helping businesses find practical, efficient and cost-effective solutions to their information packaging projects since 1855. The designer and specialty manufacturer of custom loose-leaf, heat-sealed, turned edge, sewn and presentation packaging products loves a challenge and promises to help companies make a powerful impression with their customers.

PSDA recently spoke with the vice president of sales at Heinn Chapman, Jeff Morgan, to learn more about what the company offers, the challenges it has faced and what makes it unique.

What makes your company unique?

Heinn Chapman has been an evolving manufacturer for more than 100 years. We have prided ourselves on our ability to keep up with the times by adapting our equipment and minds. We began as a bindery but now consider ourselves a custom packaging manufacturer. Creating custom presentation packaging pieces ranging from v-grooved trifold swatch kits to rigid boxes with drawers, to binders and everything in between — all with in-house capabilities.

Tell us about the products and services your company offers.

Heinn Chapman is proud to present its plethora of ever-expanding capabilities such as v-grooving, case making, turned edge, debossing, foil stamping, heat sealing/RF welding, riveting and eyeleting, screen printing, sewing and fulfillment. In addition to those, we are also able to engineer and design new custom products to your specifications with our new digital cutter. With these capabilities, we have been able to produce a range of products, including binders, custom boxes, zipper cases, pad holders, slipcases, menus and check presenters.

What is your company most proud of?

We have been lucky enough to assemble a team of individuals who can work together to transform our customers’ concepts into reality. Teamwork is one of our greatest assets and not one we take for granted.

What challenges has your company faced, and how have you overcome them?

The digital age has left its mark on the bindery community, and all around us you can see companies closing or merging. We’ve been thankful over the years to be involved in some great mergers, but this couldn’t have been possible if we hadn’t altered and added to our product lines. People aren’t coming to us looking for a simple branded binder anymore; they want to stand out in design and construction. Over the years, we have persisted despite this and because of this, and we will continue to create outstanding custom pieces for every one of our clients.

What member benefits are you most excited to utilize?

We are ecstatic to be able to directly connect with a community like this. Since our company is often removed a few times from the intended customer, it can be hard to access the people who will inevitably utilize our services. PSDA has compiled a community of distributor companies that service the industries we interact with most, and we cannot wait to get to know every one of them.

What do you hope to get out of joining PSDA?

We look forward to connecting with distributors to make them aware of how they can grow and expand their business by utilizing Heinn Chapman as a resource and partner.”
